Importance of Stainless Steel Steam Generators

Steam is widely used as a sterilization agent—but not all steam is equally pure. Steam of different purity levels is required for different applications. There are common categories for industrial steam:

• Clean steam. The feed water for clean steam must not be treated with water treatment chemicals. Clean steam is used for humidification and sterilization. 

• Sterilization steam. DIN 58950-7 (the standard for steam sterilizers for pharmaceutical products) calls for another category of steam for use in sterilizing parenteral drugs in closed containers. The high limit of the conductivity of this steam is 10µm/cm, which is above the limit for WFI. This steam is also utilized in the sterilization of goods that are not in direct contact with the pharmaceutical product.

While some units can provide more than 100 psi, most of them provide pressures from 0–100 psi. Most of these steam generators are also available as indirect steam to clean steam models in facilities that already have utility steam. The power ratings for these models range from 30kW to 240kW.
